2nd Annual BIG Birding Day - May 4, 2019
We had an awesome day for our 2nd Annual BIG Birding day - finding a total of 77 species including 7 species of warblers, 1 Blue Headed Vireo, several Bobolinks, and an Otter (I know - it's not a bird - but when was the last time you saw and Otter in Rochester!).
Starting at 6:30 am we first visited the Eastside WMA, then the Silver Creek Reservoir, Quarry Hill, Indian Heights, Cascade Meadows and finally finished up at the Kalmar Reservoir at about 3:30 pm when a brief rain shower convinced most of us that we were tired and it was time to stop. We saw new birds at each and every stop. Many thanks to our trip leaders: Lance Vrieze, Keith House, Joyce and Terry Grier, Sandy Hokanson, Patty Trnka, Jerry Pruett and Jim Peterson and we appreciate the help of the many other birders who came along and spotted for us.
