3rd Annual BIG Birding Day - Saturday, May 9, 2020
While the pandemic of 2020 didn't let us hold our normal BIG Day event, a small group of six ZVAS members did decide to go out on a count.
The morning was pretty frosty at just 30 degrees but it was bright and sunny as our team did a survey of Chester Woods followed by a walk through the Rock Dell WMA. It warmed up into the 50's and was very nice by early afternoon but we were frustrated by the lack of warblers. We did enjoy seeing many sparrow and woodpecker species.
At least 54 species were sighted by 3 pm and I'm sure many more than that were found by independent birders throughout the day. More photos can be seen on our FB page.
